"There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind" C. S Lewis - but sometimes it's good to reflect...

This is a start of my new blog!! For many years I've played with the idea of writing a one, never started one because I'm not the best writer, but lately I feel I'm getting up to interesting projects and experiences and I'd like to share - to show you ( other than Instagram and Facebook)  and for me to remember what I get up to! I'm not getting any younger and my brain is like a sieve at the the moment.

So to start off the blog, I'd like to share a bit about me, a brief history, incase you are new to me and my work.

My full name is Buddug Wyn Humphreys. The name 'Buddug' is welsh name pronounced 'B-i-th-i-g', a Welsh version of The warrier queen's named, Bodieciea.

I was born in North Wales and brought up in the Caernarfon area, I speak Welsh and often bring the Welsh language into my work. After my Art Foundation Course in Bangor in 2001, I moved to London to study Jewellery and Silversmithing at London Guildhall University which is now called London Metropolitan. I had 3 great years here learning the joys of creating in metal and this is where i started leaning to enamel.

After graduating I started making crafts to sell, teaming up with Jessie Chorley, starting selling in markets in London,  Broadway Market, Spitafields, Brick Lane.... I loved this time, experiencing with new ideas and having no worries! Discovering real life!

We opened a shop in Columbia Road, we moved locations a few times. The first shop was in one of the rooms upstairs of a vintage shop. Then a ground floor shop couple doors down. We spent hours thinking of displays, window themes and we loved dressing up for parties and photos!

But after over 10 years living in London, I was ready for a change and decided to move back to Wales, but somewhere different from the place I grew up. So I decided to base myself in Cardiff.

During my preparations in moving in 2015 I fell pregnant with my daughter Marla. So It has been a very busy time discovering a new city, befriending the community, restoring our home, raising our daughter and making work.
